Gemma and Michael met
back in 2003 while both working together in Sheffield England. Their romance
was a dream until their relationship took a slight U-turn when Michael moved
back to his homeland of Ireland. Determined to not let this stop their romance,
Gemma and Michael continued with a long distance relationship for 5 years.
After 7 years and everything they had been through, Michael knew Gemma
was “The one” and proposed! With their English
and Irish roots they wanted to give their guests the most picturesque venue
they could find and the Markree Castle in county Sligo was perfect.
On Friday 6th September 2013 Gemma and Michael were joined by all their family and friends to
celebrate what Gemma calls
“The best day of our lives”.
The theme for the day
was Lace and ribbons and this is exactly what Gemma's gown showed. Purchased
from Brides and Gowns in Derby, her ivory
A-line lace gown decorated with a flower and pearl waistband was
stunning and classic which portrayed Gemmas personality perfectly.
looked beautiful in mint green Grecian style dresses from Dessy.
All the ladies
make up was created by Ann young based in Sligo Ireland. The men looked rather
dapper in their gunmetal grey suites hired from Evolve men’s ware in
Gemmas Bouquet was a
delicate arrangement of ivory roses and pretty green foliage to add to the
country style theme. All the flowers and buttonholes were created by Ribbons
and Roses, Sligo.
To bring together
their English and Irish guests they came to us here at The confetti cone
company and opted for our bespoke range. Both the Union Jack and Irish flags were the style of their cones, filled with white hydrangea petals to which their
guests showered them with after the ceremony.
Their amazing four-tired
cake was created by Janine
"Cakewalk" in Sligo. Consisting of fruitcake, chocolate peanut, red
velvet and coconut and raspberry.
For the evening
entertainment Gemma and Michael wanted to give their guests something they
would always remember and this was definitely the case when it came to Gino the
singing chef who surprised everyone with his amazing performance of opera songs
after the wedding meal.
For the evening
they organized for Celtic Rhythm to entertain their guests with classic
Irish dancing to really get the celebrations under way, to finish the day the
fantastic band Bluemoose entertained everyone & ended the night with a bang.
So their day was over
but the marriage has just began, the English Rose has found her Irish Gent, they
got married and we’re pretty sure they will
live happily ever after!
Congratulations from everyone @ The confetti cone company,
we're delighted to of been part of your beautiful day x
